William George Morris was born on the 25th April 1925. His father died when he was nine and he then attended the Royal Masonic Junior and Senior Schools at Bushey for nearly six years.
Bill was initiated into his late father’s Lodge, Canute No. 3104 at Southend-on-Sea in Essex, on the 14th. January 1950, and has now completed 65 years in Freemasonry.
W Bro Bill became a joining member of the Lord Roborough Lodge No 5789 on 24th May 1972. He attained the Chair of King Solomon as the 44th Worshipful Master in 1982.
He was appointed Provincial Grand Standard Bearer in 1991; promoted to Past Provincial Junior Grand Deacon in 1993 and to Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden in 2000. From 1990 until 2008 W Bro Bill was Almoner of the Lodge and an extremely good almoner he was, keeping the Lodge in touch with its widows and any brethren who were ill or in difficult circumstances.
He regularly performs parts of the ritual and is our stand-in Chaplain. He is also a member of the Plymouth and District Masters’ Lodge and was WM in 1993. At present he is their Chaplain. Excellent Companion Morris, PPGSN was exalted into Sincerity Chapter No 189 and was First Principal in 1985 and again in 1990. Currently he is their Almoner and he just two weeks ago delivered a superb rendition of the Closing Address to the Companions. He holds the rank of Past Provincial Scribe Nehemiah.
He is also a member of the Devonian Chapter of First Principals No 9249, currently holding the office ‘J’. W Bro Bill is also a member of Brunswick Mark Lodge No 48 and was WM in 1998 and 1999. He is currently their Chaplain. He holds the Rank of Past Provincial Grand Senior Overseer. He is a member of Russell Royal Ark Mariners No 23 and was Worshipful Commander Noah in 2003. Currently Holder of Provincial Royal Ark Mariners Grand Rank.
